Art & Antiquities Tour
The best that Greece has to offer — customized to suit your group. This seven day package is designed to supplement Paros Hospitality workshops on Paros.
We tour Athens, mainland Greece and the Peloponnese to visit those ancient sites that we have all heard about in our studies. Then on our way to Paros we journey to justly famous Santorini where “80% of the beautiful photos of Greek islands are taken”.
We not only vary the route to suit your group but each day’s sites are specifically chosen to emphasis either the birth places of western civilization or the foundations and basics of western art history. Where “the rules were written that modern art breaks”.
Day One: Arrival at Athens — If early we will bus to Cape Sounion, if late, just a quick introduction to Athens. Sounion includes ruins of the Poseidon Temple and graffiti from the English poet Lord Byron.
Day Two: Athens — We get an early start to beat the crowds to the Acropolis and Parthenon. This is the one and only “must see” for every visitor to Greece. Next we visit several other antiquity highlights or art locations previously selected by your group. The choices within easy reach are unparalleled in quality and variety.
Day Three: Out to Delphi or Olympia, your choice. Temples, statues and art galore. Wear your walking shoes!
Day Four: Back to Athens by way of Mycenae, Epidaurus and Corinth. You will now be official experts on the myths, history and art of ancient Greece.
Day Five: Ferry to Santorini for fabulous shopping and the fantastic sunset.
Day Six: Ferry to Paros for relaxation and orientation before your workshop starts.
Day 14: After your workshop ferry to Piraeus/Athens the day before your flight home. (Flight supplements are available as an alternative to and from Athens)
